19 SEO Blogs You Should Be Following (+5 Bonus Feeds)

I’ve been an SEO type-person for almost three years now and in my journey I’ve found the following SEO blogs. They have provided me with an almost infinite amount of knowledge and wealth (well some wealth, but I’m working on it). They’re in no particular order, contain a mixture of white and blackhat topics and are all* worth subscribing to.

The List of 19 SEO Blogs

  • Blue Hat SEO
    Although this blog isn’t updated frequently anymore it covers a lot of SEO tips and techniques from both sides of the force!
  • Bruce Clay
  • Digital Marketing Blog
    ROD provide a frequent stream of industry news and occasionaly divulge inner agency tricks of the trade.
  • Distilled
    Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have heard of the industry leaders Distilled. SEO tips, infographics and innovative thinking is what sets them apart from their competitors.
  • Google Webmaster Central
    It goes without saying that if you’re in online marketing you should be following Google. Webmaster Central focuses on the technical elements of SEO, Analytics, Updates and more.
  • Hobo Web
    Shaun Anderson from Hobo Web is a particularly entertaining blog. He tends give SEO updates in a “no-bullshit” manor and with a touch of humour.
  • Holistic Search Marketing
  • Matt Cutts
    Matt CuttsThere’s a rumour going around that if you recite Matt’s name 3 times on Halloween you will be blessed with infinite link juice power and be given God Mode access to Google. It’s worth a shot right?
  • Michael Gray (Graywolf)
    Die hard SEO’s need to understand all elements of SEO, whether that means Black/White/Grey/Purple Monkey Dishwasher. Mike is a prominant figure on many popular forums and his blog provides a lot of useful information for those looking to embrace all hats.
  • Search Engine Roundtable
    Barry Schwartz is an absolute machine. SEO updates around the clock and the weekly round-up. You have to wonder if this guy ever sleeps!
  • Search Engine Watch
  • Search Engine Land
    Danny Sullivan is the man behind SEL and was also the founder of Search Engine Watch. A definite must follow.
  • Dave Naylor
    Another man that never sleeps and is always at the forefront of SEO news.
  • SEO Book
    Fantastic updates, and provides a number of useful SEO tools to help you in your day to day SEO.
  • SEO Gadget
    Although the updates can occasionally be sporadic they are incredibly insightful. They’ve recently been taking a look in to link building for those link hunters!
  • SEOmoz
    Does the name Rand Fishkin mean anything to you? If not… you need to start reading! SEOmoz are one of the biggest names in the SEO industry. They have a vibrant SEO community and UGC section second to none!
  • State Of Search
    Constantly updated with the latest SEO news from around the world. SoS is one of the newer blogs on this list but with Bloggers like Barry Adams and Bas van den Beld it’s sure to be a keeper (not to mention particularly funny)
  • The Official Google Blog
    No Comment.
  • Yoast
    Last but by no means least we have Yoast. For those familiar with wordpress you may have heard of the Yoast SEO plugin. This man knows what he’s talking about!

So that’s the 19 serious ones, and whether you’re just starting out in SEO or are a veteran you need to be following these people. SEO isn’t an exact science, but little by little we’re getting there! If you’re still with me I’ve managed to dig out 5 bonus blogs that are also totally worth following *cough*.

    But awesome post, the only other blog that should be added in my opinion is KaiserTheSage. He’s not well known, but he’s the man when it comes to link building.
